Musings on Drop Shadows in Sketch

My last post was a quick review of Figma’s drop shadow options. This post I’ll go into Sketch’s interface. As with Figma it improves on a few things over Photoshop. In fact the initial menu option is easier to access:

This opens up into options for x, y, and blur pixel depth. Again easy to follow and easy access:

Users can turn the shadow on/off using the blue checkbox. I’ve set this one for more depth and spread. After setting these to the desired value it’s easy to adjust.

The final result is a warm, well rendered shadow:

While I still prefer Figma overall, I have to say that Sketch’s shadows have a warmer, deeper quality. Also the interface is easier to access and adjust than its competitor.

In my next post I’ll look at creating logos in both programs.
